AALEADers receive DC Mayor’s 2010 Community Service Award

Congratulations to Jimmy Lynn and Catherine Ly for being selected to receive the Mayor’s 2010 Community Service Award, in recognition of their extraordinary contribution to Washington, D.C.’s Asian and Pacific Islander Community!

Catherine Ly volunteers with a number of AALEAD after-school programs, mentors a high school student, and has been using her graphic design skills to help us develop new outreach materials (look for a brand new AALEAD Info Booklet coming soon!).

Jimmy Lynn is a long time supporter of AALEAD. He is a mentor to two of our students, serves on the AALEAD board, and is Co-chair of the development committee.

The work of AALEAD is possible because dedicated individuals like Catherine and Jimmy, who support our efforts with their time, talent, and resources.

We are so proud of Catherine and Jimmy and want to thank them for their service to our students!

Many thanks also to all our other volunteers who serve throughout AALEAD and have a tremendous impact on the lives of our students.

Wow, what an amazing contribution by Catherine and Jimmy! AALEAD is lucky to have such dedicated individuals. This reminds me of the dedication needed to master games like Pokerogue, especially completing the Pokerogue and Pokerogue Dex ! Their commitment is truly inspiring and demonstrates the positive impact volunteering can have on a community. I wonder if they have time to squeeze in a few rounds of Pokerogue after their good deeds.

It's fantastic to see AALEADers recognized for their dedication! Giving back to the community is so important. It reminds me of needing focus and precision, just like when lining up the perfect shot in 8 ball pool

It's inspiring to read about Catherine and Jimmy's dedication. Volunteering really can make a difference in young people's lives. I remember feeling similarly driven to help out at my local community center years ago, though my skills were more in organizing events than graphic design. Sometimes I wish I had more time for that now, but work keeps me busy. When I do have a free moment, I find myself unwinding with simple online games, something like Infinite Craft, just a relaxing distraction. Hopefully, I can find a way to balance work and volunteering again soon and give back more to my community. The ripple effect of their actions is clearly significant.
